Rant App lets strangers vent to strangers with no accounts and no names attached. Here is what I had to build before I trusted it to ship.
Rant App started from a simple idea: give people a safe, anonymous space to vent, built around a paper plane metaphor where you release a rant into a global sky and get matched with a stranger in real time. The idea is easy to describe in one sentence. Making it safe to actually ship was most of the work. Anonymity and safety pull against each other by default. The whole point of the app is that nobody has to attach their name to what they are feeling, but the moment you remove identity, you also remove the normal social brakes that stop people from posting something harmful, and you remove the normal tools a platform uses to hold anyone accountable. I could not solve that by bolting on a report button after the fact. It had to be part of the architecture from day one. The matchmaking itself runs on Socket.io paired with Redis sorted sets, which let me pair two strangers instantly across a live global feed without a database round trip on every match attempt. Real time matching is the fun engineering problem. The part I spent more time on was what happens to the data once two strangers are connected. I encrypted sensitive user data with AES-256-GCM at the field level, so even a database dump does not hand over readable rants, and I hashed IP addresses with bcrypt rather than storing them in plain text, since IP addresses are exactly the kind of quasi-identifying data that turns "anonymous" into "anonymous until someone tries hard enough." Every sensitive action gets audit logged too, not so I can watch people, but so there is a trail if abuse actually happens and I need to act on it. The moderation layer was the part I could not shortcut. I integrated Google Vertex AI for content moderation, but a generic moderation model is built to catch spam and slurs, not to catch someone in genuine crisis. So I built a separate crisis detection path on top of it, tuned to recognize language associated with self-harm or a mental health emergency, and automated harassment blocking so the matching system does not keep pairing an abusive user with a fresh stream of strangers. None of that is glamorous work. It is the least visible part of the app and the part I am most careful about, because getting it wrong has real consequences for a real person on the other end of a match. The last piece, gamification, is where I deliberately went against the grain of what most apps do. I built a dual currency reward system and a ten tier progression ladder, but I designed the streak mechanic to decay gracefully instead of punishing a missed day with a full reset, and I kept ratings private rather than public, because a leaderboard for who vents the most is exactly the kind of feature that turns a support space into a competition. The goal was retention that comes from the app actually being useful to someone, not retention that comes from fear of losing a streak. Building Rant App taught me that "anonymous" is not a feature you turn on. It is a constraint that touches literally everything else you build afterward, from how you store a single IP address to how a progress bar is allowed to make someone feel.

An anonymous mobile venting app built around a paper-plane metaphor, matching strangers in real time via Socket.io and Redis sorted sets. Field-level AES-256 encryption and AI-powered moderation from Google Vertex AI keep the platform safe, backed by an ethical, non-addictive gamification system.
Category: AI / Mobile. Role: Full Stack Mobile Developer. Tech stack: Google Vertex AI, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Redis, Expo, Express, Node.js, React Native.
Key results: AES-256-GCM field-level encryption for every rant and message, with IP addresses stored as bcrypt hashes rather than plaintext; Two-layer moderation: a synchronous rule-based layer blocking harassment/crisis language instantly, plus an asynchronous Google Vertex AI layer re-scoring ongoing conversations; Real-time matchmaking via Socket.io with Redis sorted sets indexing every live rant; Purely cosmetic ten-tier reward system with no functional gating, keeping appreciation genuine rather than performative.
A Windows desktop app that turns long-form video into TikTok-ready clips: cut, captioned, templated, and uploaded automatically. Its AI runs through a personal DeepSeek chat session instead of a paid API, so there is no per-token cost, and it posts directly through TikTok's real Content Posting API.
Category: AI / Creator Tools. Role: Solo Developer. Tech stack: Rust, TypeScript, React, Tailwind CSS, Tauri.
Key results: Zero per-token AI cost, drives a real, logged-in DeepSeek browser session instead of a paid LLM API; Real TikTok Content Posting API integration with correct chunked upload for large clips; Konva-based visual template editor whose crop/watermark/caption layout is mirrored pixel-for-pixel by the actual FFmpeg render; One-click Auto Upload pipeline: slice → caption → render → queue across every connected account.

A free AI coding agent (CLI, Chrome extension, and native host) that runs a planner and executor loop through a logged-in DeepSeek chat session instead of a paid API. The read-only Planner decomposes tasks while the Executor makes changes and verifies them with a real tool call before reporting done.
Category: AI / Developer Tools. Role: Solo Developer. Tech stack: JavaScript, Node.js.
Key results: Zero-API-cost coding agent driven through a real, logged-in DeepSeek chat session instead of a metered LLM API; Planner/Executor separation with no shared context, so every action the Executor takes was explicitly authorized rather than assumed; Executor required to verify its own changes with a real tool call before reporting a task done; Mocked fake-backend of the chat UI enabling local development and testing without touching a live session.
